Back to Reality

Well, I am home from vacation, and couldn't be happier. It's always nice to get away, but I always think it's nicer to come back home. Disney World was fun but I think I've kind of grown out of that stage of my life, it's not what it used to be to me anymore. Also, I think I get more motion sickness on rides too, soo....

While there I spent a day at the Senses Spa at the Grand Floridian and that may have been my favorite day. I relaxed, had a massage, sat in the whirlpool and sauna and enjoyed a glass of champagne. It was exactly the rejuvenation I needed. I also got tan (not pink, go me!), and read a few books.

While it wasn't what I was initially expecting, I think what it turned into was exactly what I needed. Does anyone have any fun vacations coming up?

Hair Problems

So yesterday, with stress in my body, I went and had my hair cut. I have naturally curly/wavy hair and if it gets cut too short, or too layered, or too angled, it just decides that it wants to do it's on thing and poof out on the sides. Please see below for an example of my "curls. Maybe I used to say the wrong things but when I would see globs of inches of my hair on the floor I would freak.

(Note: A picture of me with my curly hair clearly proved difficult to find seeing that this is the one I went with.Circa Summer 2009.)

I have had horrible haircuts in the past that have just scarred me, but with vacation coming up and my hair becoming static-y and too much too handle I know I had to go. I took a chance and went somewhere new and they listened which was amazing! My hair was trimmed up and blown out to perfection and a weight was lifted off of my shoulders. I will definitely be going back and am happy I finally found somewhere I could trust to cut my hair.

Any horrid haircuts in your past?

Here I Go Again...

80's Whitesnake reference anyone?

What a way to start your Monday... So like the title says Here I Go Again. I'm going to really try and stay consistent with this and I'm not sure how well that is going to fare because well, I leave for a vacation soon, a very much needed vacation.

Life has been a tad hectic lately, but I normally function better under stress for some crazy reason which I'm not terribly fond of, but time to make my Monday to-do list and forge on!

Anything good on your to-do list this week?

Can I Use Emoji's as a Title?

Today is dragging, like super, crazy, sleepy, slow. I feel like I'm dragging. I'm so tired and I don't know why and have zero motivation to do anything except lay in my bed (horrible I know).

The good news is, my new glasses came in today, the bad news is I have no idea what they're going to look like on my face (or if I put in the prescription correctly) because I bought them online. I thought they were adorable so I went for it. I needed a pair with black frames anyway.

I just want to go home make my zoodles and garlic sauce and lay in bed and binge Netflix. I'm such a good adult, insert monkey covering eyes emoji here.

Is it Dewey time yet?

The only thing I want right now is to be in Dewey, that's it. I cannot wait for Summer this year, because last years was a little, well tragic for me. I had an awesome MDW and went to see Jason Aldean with my best friend and then Tuesday I go to the doctors and was diagnosed with mono, super...

Needless to say, Summer 2015 wasn't my best. It was spent sleeping 18 hours a day, having soup, and without orange crushes. I made it down a few times in August but I still wasn't 100%. I even slept a whole day away during family week, oops.

Back to the present though! I cannot wait to get an Orange Crush at the Starboard, I've been dreaming of them so refreshing. And then brunches and days spent on the deck and Jam sesh. I'm day dreaming at my desk. We are lucky enough to have a family house in Dewey Beach, Delaware. I didn't always love it because I wasn't always a beach kid (I didn't like being sandy and getting stung by jellyfish), but I am now. Our family house has so many memories for me and I cannot wait to make some more. We have a big family so there's always something to do, someone to hang out with, or someone in the kitchen cooking!

Here's to you Summer 2016, 58 days and counting!

Have you ever been to Dewey Beach? What's your favorite thing about it?

Over the Weekend 3/28/2016

Well another Easter has come and gone. I wonder how long it will be until I don't hunt eggs with my cousins? Let's hope never, I'm the oldest at twenty-seven and the youngest is four, so maybe another twenty three or so years...

Let's start with Friday, I worked all day and ended the night with a relaxing night at home, which was very much needed. I slept pretty well but still woke up early on Saturday morning. I did some cleaning around the apartment and took a nap (I may or may not have avoided my family to do this, oops!). I was supposed to get my nails done in the morning with my Mom and younger sister but I didn't want to drive there and back to the apartment after and then back out there for dinner so I opted to go on my own before dinner.

We had our quarterly cousin dinner on Saturday night and went to my favorite restaurant Pietro's Prime! It was nice to get dressed up and have a delicious dinner out. I wore a simple black maxi dress with a pink patterned cardigan. Lots of laughs and delicious food was had by all.

I spent the night at my Mom's on Saturday and we had Easter brunch on Sunday morning, so yummy, and so were the mimosas I had. From there it was out to my Dad's parents house to celebrate and of course, hunt eggs. I found a decoy golden egg with a penny in it, By the time I finally got back to the apartment I was exhausted and crashed to wake up to a rainy Monday, lucky me.

I hope it won't be too rough of a week, but I finally have a weekend coming up with no plans! I cannot wait. Did you do anything fun for Easter?

Green Eyed Envy

So you know how everyone has a part of their body their overly obsessed with? Well mine are my pretty green eyes, and those bad boys have not seen contacts since November! It's killing me, I miss eye liner, mascara, eye shadow, and shades and other things that make me sound crazy.

I've been wearing my glasses since November because I have been having issues with dry eyes. Well yesterday I saw my third doctor and got four new drops! The total is now up to eight different kinds of drops/gels. Who knew that there were that many different kinds of eye medicines, not me, that's who... It gets super confusing because some are 2x a day, 4x a day, once but only a night, etc. I have to write it all down just to keep it straight. Oh and if that isn't enough I need to wait ten minutes between drops. SUPER FUN!

I am so blessed that I am able to see, this has just become a frustrating process because it is painful and expensive. Fun fact, eye medicine is the most expensive kind, thanks pharmacy person! I do sit and stare at a screen all day and it has taught me to look away and blink and get up which is helpful.

This experience has had its ups and downs and I hope that it clears up soon, but I am so thankful that I am able to see and don't know what I would do without my vision.

Over the Weekend 3/21/2016

Wow, this weekend was a busy one! I normally like to use my weekend time to decompress and just relax, but lately (and coming up) that is not and will not be the case.

On Friday, I went to HH with my Mom and Step-Dad because they were leaving for a trip and I wanted to see them before they left. We had some drinks, watched March Madness (I was freaking out.), and just caught up. I walked away feeling really lucky for having such an amazing support system, Dad, sisters, grandparents included.

Saturday morning, I woke up early and did some things around the apartment then had girls afternoon-night with a friend of mine. I came home and went to bed and slept until 9:45!! It was crazy, I never sleep that late. It made for a tad of a hectic morning because I had a family party to go to and still needed to get cards, wrap gifts, etc. I had a nice dinner with my family, although we are a big group, it's quite noticeable when a few are missing. I missed not having them there, but I know life is busy.

Next weekend should be just as fun with Easter!

On a different note, I want to write something here everyday! I am not sure what yet, but something just to get me in the habit. I am not sure where the content will eventually go, but come hell or high water it's going somewhere...

Oh well, that's that. Did anyone else have any fun plans this weekend, or a busy week coming up?

Behind the Sparkle

So I've debated the first post over and over and I decided a list of fun facts about me would be the best way to go! I've settled on a list of thirteen since that is my lucky number (that's your fourteenth fun fact!). Here goes nothing.

1. I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, in the suburbs, hence the title.

2. I went to a small liberal arts college, Elizabethtown College, (also in PA), and have a B.S. in Mathematics.

3. I love analytics and problem solving which makes for not so great writing skills so I'm going to apologize in advance for that.

4. I love all things preppy, monograms, bows, Lilly Pulitzer, pearls, pink and green, you name it.

5. I'm super into organization, planning, and promptness.

6. I currently work in the Finance field, and am navigating through what I'd like to do with the rest of my life (insert wide-eyed, blushing Emoji here).

7. My family - My parents have been seperated ever since I can remember. I have a younger sister, a step-dad, and a step-sister, in addition to Mom & Dad.

8. I LOVE TO DANCE. And my car is my favorite place to do so, I'm going to end up on one of those reality shows, I just know it.

9. Stargazer and Calla Lillies tie for my favorite flower. Why you ask? Because the first supporting lead character I had ever played was Lilly St. Regis in Annie in 8th grade.

10. I love to bake, and now that I have my own apartment, I've also really enjoyed experimenting with cooking as well. Lessons learned so far - add rice at the very end, soup turned stew.

11. Penguins are my absolute favorite animal; I've always loved them. For my 25th Birthday, I got to visit them personally!

12. Dewey Beach is my favorite place in the world.

13. I'm a Starbucks lover. Skinny Vanilla Latte no foam forever.

That's about it for now, I'm sure there will be much more to learn soon enough. What's something I should know about you?

XO! Stephanie
